A Spiritual Retreat for Parents Who Have Experienced the Death of a Child of Any Age, by Any Cause, No Matter How Long Ago

Of all the pains that life can hand us, arguably one of the most searing is the death of a child.  A parent’s world irrevocably changes forever.  Focusing on the spirituality of the grieving process can help tremendously.  As Jesus joined his distraught disciples on the road to Emmaus after his crucifixion, we ask him to join each of us in this ministry as we continue on our difficult journeys from grief to the healing peace that we, like Jesus’ disciples, can find in the Eucharistic community.

To meet the needs of parents whose children have died, the Family Life Office and St. Marianne Cope now offer the Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents.  A unique, faith-based program providing spiritual retreats for grieving parents offered by grieving parents, the Emmaus Ministry offers a safe place where you can find peace, comfort, and hope–at least for a time.

This spiritual retreat is not a workshop or a seminar–or even a support group.  It is a chance to give yourself the gift of getting away from everyday life and focusing on where God is in your life right now–and where your precious child is. It focuses on questions, such as …Where is God in my pain…Where is my child now…How can my faith help me through this horrible reality of life without my child?

You won’t be asked to stand up and tell your story because your spiritual journey is very personal.  Many people participate by listening only.
That being said, if you would like to share, there will be plenty of opportunities.

Join us  in a warm and loving environment
with others who know somewhat of your pain.
